Global Business System (GBSYS S.A.) began operations on July the 16th of 1987 by putting together the individual consulting activities of a group of information technology profesionals who wanted to dedicated themselves to information systems development in a database environment. To this effect they algo got the collaboration of a select group of experts in diverse information technology areas.
As of today we focus on providing Oracle and SQL*Server Administration services together with application development, maintenance and migration mainly in Oracle, Java y .Net platforms. Also we offer outsourcing services both in IT Infrastructure Management and Application Development. In all the afore mentioned areas we offer knowledge transfer (training) services not only at our premises but also at partners or customer sites.

Oracle to Buy Sun
SANTA CLARA, Calif. April 20, 2009 Sun Microsystems (NASDAQ: JAVA) and Oracle Corporation (NASDAQ: ORCL) announced today they have entered into a definitive agreement under which Oracle will acquire Sun common stock for $9.50 per share in cash. The transaction is valued at approximately $7.4 billion, or $5.6 billion net of Sun's cash and debt.
La Universidad de Costa Rica – que es la universidad más antigua del país, con aproximadamente 40000 estudiantes activos y varias sedes en todo el país, implementó su sistema de matrícula via web utilizando tecnología Oracle y desarrollos en Java – con GBSYS como desarrollador principal. Este es un proyecto que desde el año 2007 se encuentra en producción en la UCR y ha sido mencionado como caso de éxito en diferentes foros.
